Celtic player ratings as Cameron Carter-Vickers stands tall v Rangers

Joe Hart 7

He made a save in the last half hour from Scott Arfield and he also made another crucial stop. At times his kicking was a bit off, but the former England international did not do anything costly.

Alistair Johnston 7

It was a solid performance from the Canadian during the time he was on the pitch. The right-back had a shot on 25 minutes that was saved and got up and down the wings effectively before leaving the pitch with an injury early in the second half.

Cameron Carter-Vickers 9

The American provided a crucial block at the start of the match to deny Nicolas Raskin. He put his body on the line just after the break to produce a clearance right in front of his goal. He was a rock at the back, as always.

Carl Starfelt 7

Another comfortable afternoon for the Swede. While he was not involved as much as his central defensive partner, the 27-year-old did not put a foot wrong.

Greg Taylor 7

Like the other defenders, he was comfortable during the fixture for the most part. He played the inverted role well.

Callum McGregor 7

The captain was consistent in the middle of the park and while he was not involved all the time, the game never passed him by. His understanding of the space around him was excellent.

Reo Hatate 6

It was a quiet afternoon from the midfielder who was returning from injury for this fixture. His passing was a bit static at times but he did have some nice touches.

Matt O'Riley 8

The Dane had a phenomenal afternoon in the middle of the park. He dictated play for the 65 minutes he was on the pitch. Some of his passing and touches were that of a top-level player. Ultimately he was replaced by Aaron Mooy.

Jota 8

Another solid performance from the winger, who had plenty of fancy touches. He tested McGregor early on in the game. He opened the scoring with a calm finish inside the box and was constant threat in the match.

Kyogo Furuhashi 7

He was quiet in the first half but began to grow into the game. The forward ran the channels well and forced a save from McGregor in the second half. Overall it was not his most effective match but he caused plenty of problems.

Daizen Maeda 8

It was a quick start from the Japan international who was almost played in at the beginning of the match. He was a constant menace to James Tavernier. He provided the assist for Jota's opener after pouncing on a mistake from the Rangers defence and firing in an excellent cross.

Substitutes

Anthony Ralston 6 (for Johnston, 54)

He did not have much of an involvement during his time on the park but was solid when he needed to be.

Tomoki Iwata 5 ( for Hatate, 65)

The Japanese midfielder was quite quiet after coming for his fellow countryman but was tidy on the ball.

Aaron Mooy 5 (for O'Riley, 65)

Much like Iwata he was not involved a lot but was calm on the ball and provided an outlet for Parkhead side to get up the pitch.

Sead Haksabanovic 5 (for Jota, 65)

He had a couple of runs but let himself down with his decision making

Oh Hyeon-gyu 4 (for Kyogo, 84)

The South Korea international did not have an opportunity to make an impact.
