Celtic player handed me Airdrie transfer advice and I'd love him to join me at Diamonds says star

Brody Paterson sought advice from fellow Celtic player Kerr McInroy on a move to Airdrie - and he'd love to be lining up alongside him in North Lanarkshire.

The full-back has been part of the Hoops' Lowland League 'B' team this season but now heads on loan to League One with promotion-pushing Airdrie.

Diamonds boss Ian Murray handed Paterson a late debut in Tuesday's dramatic 2-2 draw with Clyde, in which four goals were scored in the final 20 minutes.

Highly-rated back at parent club Celtic, the 20-year-old spent part of last season on loan at Queen's Park, and he's keen for more senior experience after his latest loan was delayed.

Paterson said: "I had heard about the move for a few weeks but for a few different reasons, it was delayed. I am happy that it has finally come.

"I only met the boys when I turned up to Broadwood and I am glad I got some minutes. It was a tight game and one we think we should have won. We'll learn from it.

"I got about 30 games under my belt with the Celtic 'B' team before heading here so I am definitely not lacking in games.

"Celtic want me to play as much as possible. They want contributions to goals and clean sheets."

Murray is also keen on Paterson's Celtic teammate McInroy, who made a huge impact to the Airdrie midfield after his October loan arrival.

Paterson wasn't able to work out whether or not the battler would be joining him in Lanarkshire, but he did find his advice on Diamonds life.

He added: "I spoke to Kerr a lot about it. I tried to get as much out of him as I could but he keeps his cards close to his chest! I will need to see in the next few days what he's thinking.

"Kerr's a great player and he would make my job much easier if I am playing alongside him. But even if he doesn't come, all the boys here are great.

"If he does, that is an added bonus. The games at Lowland League level are different to what they are here. At Celtic, we have possession for the majority of the game.

"It's totally different coming out on loan and it's an experience I will learn a lot from."
