Celtic Park hit with flooding as video shows water pouring into stadium

Celtic's Parkhead has been hit with flooding with videos showing water pouring into the stadium.

Staff have just 48 hours to fix the leaks and get the stadium back in working order before Celtic host Livingston for their Scottish Premiership pre-Christmas match.

Footage from inside the grounds, shared to Twitter account @craigm1690, shows water pouring in from the ceilings inside what is believed to be one of the food outlets, with the floor in a corridor in another section of the ground completely flooded.

It comes as the recent cold snap continues to cause havoc after the mercury plummeted to as low as -17C across parts of Scotland. Reports of pipes burst across the country have more than doubled as temperatures starting to pick up have caused the freeze to thaw

Motherwell had to cancel their premiership match against St Mirren at the weekend - their first since returning from the five-week World Cup break - due to the significant damage caused by burst pipes at Fir Park.

Chief executive Alan Burrows joked they had "inadvertently installed a 25m pool" in their gym, as he revealed the extend of the damage on social media.

Now Ange Postecoglou's team are in a race against time to fix the damage before they host Livingston this week after their win over Aberdeen at the weekend, regaining them a nine point advantage over Rangers.

In Michael Beale's first game in charge of Rangers last week, the team gained three points back on Old Firm rivals Celtic after beating Hibs 3-2 at Ibrox.

Celtic are currently sitting at 45 points while Rangers sit at 36 following the World Cup break ending on December 15, with all teams scheduled to play their first games back after the break by Saturday, December 17.

Celtic have been approached by the Daily Record for comment.
