Celtic new boy Holm draws Haaland & Odegaard comparisons

Celtic's latest signing Odin Thiago Holm has the potential to reach similar heights to fellow countrymen Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard.

That's the viewpoint of Jonas Giæver.

The Norwegian, 20, last week joined the Hoops as the club sanctioned the first signing of the new Brendan Rodgers era.

The attacking midfielder is highly-rated and is believed to have a big future in the game.

He's had to overcome some serious injury issues already in the early stages of his career at Valerenga.

But Giæver believes Holm has the talent and drive to succeed to the same point as either Haaland or Odegaard has in the Premier League.

He told Radio Clyde: "When he was younger he was chased by the biggest clubs in the world and viewed as a prodigy but he has struggled a lot with injuries. It's unfair to compare him to Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard but the potential is there.

"If he's able to reach anything like they have then Celtic will have one of the best players in European football on their hands. He's a player that fits like a glove into any team that is looking to dominate games. He's a tremendous player on the ball, someone who rarely has a bad game."

Meanwhile, Jeremie Frimpong has candidly opened up on getting cold feet upon his move to Celtic in 2019.

The defender joined the Hoops under Neil Lennon around four years ago and went on to become a real fans' favourite at Parkhead.

He joined from Manchester City for around £500K. Celtic made a huge profit on the Dutch right-back, as he eventually moved on to join Bayer Leverkusen in January 2021 for a whopping £11million.
