Celtic must 'blow away' Brondby with Mathias Kvistgaarden offer

Brondby must be 'blown away' any any offers for Mathias Kvistgaarden, it's been said by director of football Carsten V. Jensen.

Celtic are in the market for a striker this January and the 21-year-old is a player on their shortlist.

The Scottish champions are set to lose Kyogo, Daizen Maeda and Oh Hyeon-gyu to the Asian Cup in the early stages of 2024, so Brendan Rodgers has made signing a forward a priority in the upcoming window.

Kvistgaarden was reportedly the subject of a bid from Celtic in the summer. This was believed to be worth £4.1m, but was rejected by Brondby.

Now, with Celtic seemingly looking to pick up their interest, the Danish outfit's recruitment chief Jensen has intimidated that they will not be easily pushed into selling.

Asked about the potential sale of the striker by Tipsbladet, he said:  "The declared goal is to fight for the championship as far as we can, and want to go all the way. So it is not so smart in that context to send your best players away and put some money in the bank.

"We approach this with an angle that says we want to keep the group together. But it goes without saying that we must also be responsible in relation to running the company. If you are blown away by something, you have to bring it up and discuss it.

"But that is not the expectation at all or the approach, and it is also with the support of the board that we stick together in this team and believe in further development over the winter, and then we will see how far we can take it in the spring.

"That's what we want, that's what we want, and that's what we're going for. We hope and believe that we will come out on the other side of January, strengthened by a good start, and that it is a more or less (an) identical group, minus some adjustments to players who have to go out and get some minutes, and then perhaps a single player who has top quality in the squad can be added."
