Celtic match to be watched by drone as police call in aerial support for Motherwell game

Police Scotland have confirmed that they will be using drones as part of their work at Motherwell v Celtic next Wednesday.

The Hoops make the short trip to North Lanarkshire for a second time within a month, this time in Premiership business. Their last meeting was a comfortable 4-0 win in the Premier Sports Cup quarter-finals and manager Ange Postecoglou will hope to ensure that his side go into the World Cup break next weekend top of the league.

It's been confirmed that as part of policing efforts for the match that will bring a big crowd, the local division will be assisted by a drone, which will provide an overhead view of any potential incidents. The Air Support Unit stated: "Our Air Support Unit will assist Lanarkshire Police Division during the policing operation for the Motherwell v Celtic match. A police drone will be deployed to provide the Commander with an overview and help keep those attending the event safe."
