Celtic kid Mackenzie Carse 'set' for Championship loan

Celtic academy star Mackenzie Carse is set for a loan move to the Scottish Championship.

The 19-year-old midfielder is reportedly set to join Queen's Park on loan until the end of the season.

Football Scotland claims the teenager will join up with new Spiders boss Callum Davidson and his squad after a deal was agreed between the two clubs.

Carse has made 18 appearances in the Lowland League this term for Celtic B. He's scored seven goals from midfield. He has played for Celtic since he was 13.

It's believed Celtic want one of their top academy prospects to be playing at a higher level at this stage of his development, and so Queen's Park has been trusted with him until the end of the campaign.

Queen's Park are desperately looking to bolster their squad this month after a difficult first half of the season.

They currently sit eighth in the Championship, still very much in relegation trouble. Their ambitions at the start of the season were to make a promotion push, and those play-off dreams appear to be dwindling.

Meanwhile, Celtic are set to send youngster Adam Montgomery out on loan for the second time this season.

The Daily Record reports that Motherwell is leading the chase to sign the 21-year-old until the end of the season.

The Steelmen are looking to fend off interest from other Premiership rivals, as well as English lower-league clubs, to land the left-back.

The top-flight strugglers are desperate to sign a left-back this month after Brodie Spencer, who spent the first half of the season on loan at Fir Park, was recalled by parent club Huddersfield.

Montgomery was last week recalled by Celtic after an unsuccessful stint at Fleetwood Town.
