Celtic injury latest on Carter-Vickers as 'two or three' changes to be made at St Johnstone

Ange Postecoglou has provided a Celtic injury update on three key stars after their recent battles with fitness concerns ahead of this weekend's Premiership trip to St Johnstone.

Defender Cameron Carter-Vickers missed the game against RB Leipzig with a knock that ruled him out of last weekend's match against Motherwell, while midfielders Aaron Mooy and David Turnbull also missed out in Germany due to their respective problems, Liel Abada also unavailable for religious reasons.

Postecoglou has already confirmed that captain Callum McGregor is seeing a specialist after picking up a knee injury during the 3-1 defeat at the Red Bull Arena, sustained while trying to make a tackle on French attacker Christopher Nkunku.

He said: "Cameron Carter-Vickers and Aaron Mooy had a session yesterday and they are due to join training today (Friday). So we will see how they go. Liel Abada is available again after he missed midweek. David Turnbull will miss out as he has got some tonsillitis but we are hoping by Tuesday that is cleared up.

"We will wait and see. We will see how the boys pulled up from the game but we will make at least two or three changes.

"We know it's going to be a challenging game and we need to freshen up the team. We've had some guys who have been training well. We will put them in the team and give them an opportunity. I will then assess it from there."
