Celtic hero Scott Brown's first impression of Mikael Lustig as he questioned Neil Lennon's signing

Scott Brown has opened up on his hilarious first opinion of Mikael Lustig as he asked Neil Lennon: 'Who is this guy?'.

The legendary Celtic skipper - now in charge of English League One outfit Fleetwood Town - will return to Glasgow on May 18 alongside his old pal and fellow Hoops legend as part of a tribute night in honour of the duo. Brown lifted a staggering 22 trophies in his trophy-laden 14 years at Parkhead but wasn't afforded the proper send off due to the Covid pandemic with the club and supporters now getting the chance to do just that.

Back in November 2011, Celtic agreed a pre-contract deal to sign Lustig from Rosenborg with the Swedish full-back joining in the January. When he first arrived Brown admits he didn't know what to think with the defender sporting his long hair and tattoos. He questioned Lennon over the signing, but the then Parkhead gaffer reassured his skipper how good a player he had brought in.

In an interview with Celtic TV, Brown recalled: "When I first looked at him... when he first come in? I'm not sure what I was looking at really!

"This guy with this long flush barnet, big skinny boy with tattoos dotted here there and everywhere. I was thinking, 'who have we signed here?'

"I was like, 'Lenny, who is this guy?' Lenny was like, 'I'm telling you Broony, he's a good player!'

"And to be fair he grew into the club, he loved the club and became a huge part of the dressing room. He was a leader as well, that's why I love Lusto to bits."

A Night with Scott Brown & Mikael Lustig will take place at Glasgow's OVO Hydro on Thursday, May 18, 2023. Shaun Ennis will present the evening with a host of special guests also lined up to join the iconic Hoops duo.
