Scott Brown admits Fleetwood's performance wasn't the best but hailed his troops for finding a way to win.
Josh Earl linked up with Shaun Rooney - a familiar face to Scottish football fans - with just two minutes left on the clock to score the only goal of the game. The full-back often stepped up in big moments to grab crucial goals during his time at St Johnstone and he was on target again to notch his sixth goal of the campaign and win a big three points.
The Celtic hero and his side now sit 13th in the English League One standings with a nine point cushion between themselves and Accrington Stanley, who currently sit in the final relegation spot in 21st. Brown and Co have now gone five matches unbeaten and face Morecambe this weekend before a huge FA Cup fifth round tie at Burnley.

Speaking about the game, the Hoops legend told Fleetwood's official website: “Not the best performance overall, I think we started very sloppily in the first half. We couldn’t really get out, didn’t keep the ball up top enough and I didn’t think we had enough energy and pace in the team. We have a little change of shape, and a change of personnel as well and I thought the second-half performance was a lot better.
“The shape probably worked a little bit better against their back five, so sometimes you need the subs to come on and win you games and for us, they came on and definitely changed it.
“Josh Earl comes on, sets up a fantastic goal for Roons (Shaun Rooney). It was a great ball, was it the best game in the world, no. We were a bit slow on the ball, they gave us a lot of time on the ball but we managed to find a way through in the end.”
He continued: “We’ve not had a lot of luck sometimes late on in games so you just have to make sure you defend really well, you’re compact, you’re aggressive when you can be.
“For me, Promise came on and he was exceptional going forward, he’s got great legs, puts the goalie under pressure and the amount of times the goalie kicked the ball out of play just from him springing from the centre half from the goalie, that’s probably what we wanted in the first half, but we didn’t have that energy, we didn’t have that willingness and desire and that’s why we had to go and make the change."
