Scott Brown wants to take St Johnstone star Shaun Rooney to Fleetwood Town.
The Celtic hero has landed his first managerial gig with the English League One side.
And he is believed to be closing in on the 25-year-old - who is out of contract at Saints.
Rooney helped Callum Davidson's men retain their Premiership status for next season after a thumping play-off win over Inverness Caley Thistle.

Former Celtic skipper Brown faces competition from Derek McInnes and Kilmarnock for the powerful right full-back.
The Rugby Park side are busy recruiting for their Premiership return after winning the Scottish Championship.
But Fleetwood are believed to be huge favourites to get the signing over the line.
Rooney is a big fan favourite with the St Johnstone faithful after his goals helped them to a famous domestic cup double.

He played his part in the play-off final win over Inverness after netting in both games to secure Premiership safety with a 6-2 win on aggregate.
Speaking after landing the Fleetwood job earlier this month, Brown said: “I’m delighted to have been named head coach at Fleetwood Town, it’s a great opportunity at a really exciting club.
“I’ve always had a real desire to move into management and can’t wait to meet the players and staff and get started.
"The hard work starts now - I’m looking forward to getting onto the grass."
