Celtic hero Robbie Keane 'set to join' Sam Allardyce at Leeds United

Former Celtic star Robbie Keane is set for a return to coaching, according to a report.

The Hoops hero looks likely to join up with Sam Allardyce at Leeds United until the end of the season.

The 42-year-old has previous experience being on the backroom staff at a club, having been the assistant manager of Middlesbrough.

Keane also worked with the Republic of Ireland squad in a coaching capacity too but left the role in 2020.

Now, The Times reports that the ex-Tottenham striker is set to become a coach at Leeds, with Allardyce officially appointed as manager until the end of the season this morning.

Allardyce was announced as the replacement to Javi Gracia, who was sacked by the Elland Road club after only 70 days in charge of the Premier League strugglers.

And should the ex-Bolton, West Ham, and Sunderland boss, he will pocket a stunning £3million.

He will earn a basic salary of £500,000 and a bonus of more than £2.5m if he keeps Leeds up.

He will be without his long-term trusted assistant Sammy Lee. So,

Ex-MK Dons and Oxford United manager Karl Robinson has joined as Allardyce's No2 instead.

Keane will also be apart of his backroom team. He previously spent time at Leeds as a player, initially on loan from Inter Milan, before joining permanently in May 2001.
