Real Oviedo sporting director David Fernandez has attempted to play down mounting speculation linking Haissem Hassan with a summer exit amid reported interest from Celtic.
The Egypt World Cup star has seen his release clause drop significantly following Oviedo’s relegation last season, falling from £16million to around £10million, alerting a number of clubs, including the Scottish champions and sides in Saudi Arabia.
Spanish outlet COPE reports that Celtic have already tabled an initial bid for the forward, believed to be around £3.4million, but Oviedo are unwilling to entertain any offers below the player’s £10million clause.

Fernandez, speaking at his official unveiling, insisted the club will retain full control over any potential transfer and warned that Hassan will not be sold without approval from the top. He said, “One of the main reasons I came was to interact with the ownership. I’ve been involved in every decision that’s been made.
“Haissem Hassan is owned by Oviedo. We will have a firm policy for bringing in players and managing departures.”
The 23-year-old featured 37 times last term and registered three assists, but enhanced his growing reputation with standout performances for Egypt at the World Cup, where his attacking influence drew wider attention despite their last-16 exit.
