Ten-man Celtic Under-19s fell to a heavy defeat against RB Leipzig as the German side exacted some revenge for their loss in the reverse fixture.
The young Hoops started their UEFA Youth League campaign with defeats to Real Madrid and Shakhtar before they travelled to Germany last week and got things back on track, Rocco Vata and Tsoanelo Letsosa firing them into an early lead that Leipzig were unable to recover from despite Max Voigt's strike on the hour mark. But the roles were reversed at Airdrie's Excelsior Stadium as Simon Schierack and Ohene Kohl put the visitors in charge within 15 minutes.
Vata and Ciaran Summers offered some threat going forward and the former teed up Adam Brooks who went close to pulling one back. But any real hopes of a Celtic comeback were ended on the stroke of half-time when seven minutes of madness from Mackenzie Carse saw him pick up two bookings and receive his marching orders.
Shot-stopper Tobi Oluwayemi was in form in the second half as he kept the score down with a couple of fine stops. Daniel Kelly was introduced after the break to try and inspire a comeback but it was all moot as they fell to a defeat that leaves them rooted to the bottom of Group F.
