With a trip to Japan already in the books, Celtic are set to add South Korea to their pre-season diary.
The champions are heading to the homeland of a number of their stars. Kyogo, Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate, Tomoki Iwata and Yuki Kobayashi will all be jetting back to Japan with the Hoops as Ange Postecoglou returns to the country where he used to manage as he gears up for this third Premiership campaign in the Hoops hotseat.
They’ve been invited to take part in a glamour tournament alongside European giants Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Paris-SG. It’s a second far-flung trip in a matter of months for the Glasgow club after they headed Down Under for the Sydney Super Cup last November.
And now January signing Hyeongyu Oh could get a homecoming of his own with the club potentially heading to Seoul this summer, according to the Scottish Sun. Celtic are keen to cash in on new markets opened up by Postecoglou’s recruitment. Oh was a transfer window addition from Suwon Samsung Bluewings while countryman Cho Gue-sung was also on the radar.
Postecoglou will be hoping he can head East with a Treble already in the bag. Celtic retained the League Cup with a 2-1 victory over Rangers at Hampden on Sunday. They have a significant nine point cushion at the top of the Premiership table and a first Scottish Cup for the Aussie would complete the set, although they have a tricky trip to Tynecastle to negotiate with Hearts standing between them and a spot in the semis.
