Celtic-daft Rod Stewart in Ange Postecoglou red wine 'flood' joke as he brands boss 'perfect'

Sir Rod Stewart has joked he will 'flood' Ange Postecoglou's house with red wine if they tick off two key achievements before the end of the season.

The Celtic-daft rocker is a huge fan of the 57-year-old and has previously revealed that he sends the Aussie gaffer a crate every single time they defeat Rangers. However, this time around he was so happy with the result that Ange benefitted from a double arrival.

The Maggie May singer has described the Hoops gaffer as 'just perfect' and hope he remains on the scene in Glasgow for many more years to come. In his debut campaign he secured the Premiership title and League Cup double and he could go one better this time around by securing a domestic clean sweep. They defeated Rangers at Hampden to lift the Viaplay Cup already and hold a 12 point lead in the league with just six games to play. Victory in the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden would set up a final with Falkirk or Inverness leaving the champions as heavy favourites to do a Treble.

Now, Rod has joked that he will flood Postecoglou's house in red wine should he down Michael Beale's men twice more this season. First in the last four showdown at the national stadium before the final Old Firm clash of the season at Ibrox in the league split.

Speaking to the Daily Record, he said: "Every time they beat the Rangers, I send him a crate. This month I was so happy with the result, I sent him two crates.

"If Celtic beat them in the Scottish Cup semi-final and the last league game, I will flood his house with red wine. He's just perfect and I hope he stays for a few more years."

Celtic have lost just one of 32 league games with St Mirren the only team to beat the Hoops this season. Rangers are the only other team to take a result from the league leaders with the table toppers crashing through the 100-goal barrier at the weekend.

They are also on course to hit the three figure milestone in terms of points and could even set a new record as part of their relentless charge. Next up is a home clash with Motherwell in the final fixure before the top and bottom six are decided.
