Celtic 'braced' for Josip Juranovic transfer bids as new contract talks stall with World Cup star

Celtic are reportedly expecting bids for World Cup-bound Josip Juranovic during the January transfer window.

He has been on the radar of a host of clubs for his stellar displays with the Parkhead side with Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea all linked. And now the Daily Mail state Celtic are prepared for fresh interest after talks over a new deal at Parkhead proved unsuccessful.

Croatia international Juranovic remains under contract until the summer of 2026 and will command a sizeable fee as he gets set to start for a team who reached the World Cup Final four years ago. The 27-year-old arrived in the summer of 2021 from Legia Warsaw in a £2.5million deal and has established himself as a key man under Ange Postecoglou. But it now appears Celtic's resolve will be tested when the window opens.

And Postecoglou braced supporters for changes to his squad during the club's recent AGM when he admitted that exits for his key players was part and parcel of the evolution of his squad. He said: 'If our players do well and move on to so-called greener pastures, if that is what they want, then there is an opportunity for me to improve the team.

"Because, if they are going to leave us, we are going to get some revenue in. I don't fear losing our players. I see that as part of the process. If you look at clubs who do well at Champions League level that are our size, what do they do?

"They develop players, sell them on, and replace them with better versions, hopefully. That is where I think our growth lies. 'I think it is part of the process. I don't fear that. I think that has to happen for us to grow. We need to be bringing money in to be able to keep bringing better players to our club."
