Celtic boss delighted with star's return from injury and provides ace's mindset insight

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou is looking forward to building Wishaw's David Turnbull back up to full fitness after his return from injury.

The midfielder made his first appearance of 2022 in Saturday's 4-0 Premiership win for the Hoops against Ross County, coming on as a late substitute.

A Georgios Giakoumakis hat-trick and Daizen Maeda effort sealed a comfortable afternoon's work for Celtic.

Turnbull has been out of action since a hamstring injury in December's League Cup final against Hibs.

Postecoglou was pleased to get the attacking midfielder - who hails from Wishaw and is a Motherwell youth academy product - on to the pitch after a week's worth of training.

Now the process over the international break will be to continue building him up.

The Celtic boss said: “That was the plan today. He has worked hard in training in the last seven to 10 days.

"It was good to get him out there and he was pleased to get a run.

“Now it is a case of building him up.”
