Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou linked with vacant Tottenham Hotspur position

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has emerged as one of the frontrunners for the Tottenham Hotspur job after previous top target Arne Slot opted to stay with Feyenoord.

Slot had been considered the favourite for the job, but revealed on Thursday that he would be staying at Feyenoord after leading the club to their first Eredivisie title since 2017 and just their second league title in 24 years.

The 44-year-old's hesitance at working within the Tottenham structure and desire to manage the Rotterdam side in the Champions League is thought to be the main reason behind his decision to stay.

Focus at Spurs has since turned to Celtic boss Postecoglou, with reports in the UK suggesting the Australian is a top contender for the job.

Ryan Mason has been managing the North London club on an interim basis following the departure of Antonio Conte at the end of March.

Postecoglou took over at Celtic in 2021 and has re-established Celtic's dominance in the Scottish league by winning two titles in as many seasons.

The 57-year-old has earned rave reviews for the style of football his Celtic side have played over the last two seasons. He has also been praised for his shrewd dealings in the transfer market.

A move to Spurs would see Postecoglou take over a side who have endured a miserable season. Spurs sit in 8th place in the table heading into this weekend's final league game with Leeds, a position that would see them not involved in any European competitions next season.
