Celtic 'approach' Norwich City over Adam Idah transfer

Celtic have made an official approach to sign Adam Idah, a report has claimed.

Sky Sports state that the Scottish Premiership champions have made contact with Norwich City about a permanent transfer.

The Republic of Ireland forward, 23, joined the Hoops on loan in January for the second half of last season.

He went on to become a firm fans' favourite, scoring important goals in big games as the Hoops won a league and cup double.

Brendan Rodgers watched as Idah competed with Kyogo for the starting slot up front, with the Irishman bagging nine goals in 19 games, including the Scottish Cup final winner against Rangers.

There was no option-to-buy clause inserted in the original loan deal, however, it's been known for some time that Rodgers wants to keep Idah at Celtic.

"He's been the real catalyst for us," said Rodgers after their Scottish Cup final win. "I knew what I was getting, he's fast and dynamic and has strength.

"What he's shown since coming in is he is a goalscorer. Great headers, great movement in the box.

"He's been absolutely immense for us and he's clearly someone I would like to do something with."

Celtic are the only club in Scotland's top-flight who have yet to make a signing this summer.

Meanwhile, Celtic have been offered the chance to sign long-term target Wilfred Ndidi, according to a report.

Brendan Rodgers will finally have the chance to act to reunite with the former Leicester City midfielder this summer.

The pair worked together during the Northern Irishman's time at the King Power.

The 27-year-old became a free agent at the beginning of the month following the expiry of his contract with the Foxes.
