Singer Celine Dion has recently issued a statement expressing her disapproval of the unauthorized use of her music by Donald Trump’s campaign. Dion specifically mentioned that she does not endorse the use of her song 'My Heart Will Go On' at any campaign events.
The Trump campaign has reportedly played Dion’s iconic song at multiple rallies during 2023 and 2024. Dion and her management team only became aware of this usage recently, with a particular reference to the song being played at a rally in Bozeman, Montana.
In her statement posted on her social media accounts, Dion's management team and record label, Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc., emphasized that the use of her music and likeness at the campaign rally was unauthorized. Dion clearly stated that she does not support this use or any similar use of her work.
CNN has reached out to the Trump campaign for a response regarding whether they will discontinue playing Dion's song at their events.
It is worth noting that other artists, including Rihanna, the Rolling Stones, Ozzy Osbourne, Queen, and the estate of George Harrison, have also objected to the use of their music by Trump's presidential campaigns dating back to his original run in 2016.
