Celine Dion has issued a stark warning to fans about online fraudsters who have been making fake accounts pretending to be her.
The singer, 54, took to her Instagram Stories on Friday (September 16) to send an urgent message to her 5.1million Instagram followers about the imposters.
The statement wrote: "We have recently been made aware of online scams, where fraudsters pretending to be Celine Dion are unfortunately targeting Celine's fans. These scam attempts may originate on social media, fan sites and forums.
"Fraudsters can be very sophisticated and the best way to fight these scams has always been and still remains: education and awareness."
The star also told fans what to look out for if they are unsure about an online account.
"Dear fans, please remember that: ALL of Celine Dion's official social media channels are verified. If there is no blue checkmark on the profile, it is not managed by Celine's team!
"Celine does not communicate with fans individually on social media, nor by email or text.
"If someone reaches out to you pretending to be Celine, do NOT provide any personal, banking, or password information and if possible, please report the account," the statement continued.
Celine offered her condolences to fans, writing: "We are sorry to hear about these situations and are doing everything in our power to limit them.
"When in doubt, please be vigilant."
Celine isn't the only star to be targeted by scammers, with both Carol Vorderman and Paul O'Grady also issuing warnings to fans in recent months.
Countdown legend Carol, explained an imposter pretending to be her had sent messages to fans asking for information and urged people to be vigilant.
The mathematician, 61, shared a snap on Instagram of a screenshot she had been sent by a fan which showed a bogus message from an imposter claiming to be on the hunt for hackers.
Carol wrote: "FAKE ACCOUNT ALERT... yes another one.
"I've just been sent this from someone alerting me to the fact that this fake account is trying to get information from them. Crazily this imposter is pretending to want information about imposters. Jeez."
She added: "A message to ALL the fake account pretenders... get a life and stop with this obsession. It's pathetic. Anyway to the rest of us... have a great day."
Paul, 66, was one of the first people to reply to Carol's scam warning as he addressed rogue social media accounts.
The comic said he had discovered multiple accounts pretending to be him and asking the public for money to support certain charities.
He wrote: "Another illiterate cretin with nothing better to do. I’ve got a few myself asking for money in aid of various ‘charities’. I keep telling people if the account doesn’t have a blue tick then it’s not a valid one.
"Instagram needs to do something about these ever increasing scammers.
"Anyway, I’m very impressed that you travel around in your van with a team of your very own Private Investigators. Can I borrow a couple?"
Carol replied: "@paulogrady I'll send a few over....never go anywhere without them. I'm particularly offended by the bad grammar. I mean, 26 years on Countdown and can't spell..???? REALLY?!?!!!"
