Céline Dion Fans Defend Star After Critics Say She 'Doesn't Sound the Same' in Paris Comeback

Céline Dion's fans have defended the singer online after some viewers said she 'doesn't sound the same' following her Paris comeback concert at the Plenitude Arena in Nanterre, on the outskirts of the French capital, on Saturday, 12 September 2026. The show opened a 26-date residency and marked her first full concert in six years.

For context, Dion revealed in December 2022 that she had been diagnosed with Stiff-Person Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that stiffens the muscles and, in her case, has affected her vocal cords. She stepped back from touring soon afterwards, and her team has said she spent the years since in an intensive rehabilitation programme covering physiotherapy, Pilates and vocal therapy. Saturday's show followed a brief, single-song appearance she made at the Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony, but it was billed as her true return to the stage.
