Celebrity Traitors final live: Alan Carr makes hilarious agent admission after tearful victory

The first season of Celebrity Traitors has come to a dramatic conclusion, with Traitor Alan Carr crowned as the winner – much to the surprise of everyone, including his agent.

The comedian beat Nick Mohammed and David Olusoga after successfully managing to convince them that he was, in fact, a Faithful and stealing the prize fund from under their noses.

Alan has now revealed that his agent booked him jobs midway through recording as he thought he’d be so useless on the show. Instead, he defeated the odds to become the last Traitor standing and duped Nick and David, who turned their suspicions to Joe Marler at the last moment.

Alan, Nick and David then chose to finish the competition as a trio, meaning that the comedian, as the last remaining Traitor, took the entire prize pot for his chosen charity. After admitting that he’d been a Traitor all along, an emotional Carr broke down in tears.

It was a gripping end to a series that has captured the viewing public’s imagination – although a select few viewers managed to catch the final episode early, after it was accidentally leaked a day early in Canada.

We’ve tracked down Claudia Winkleman’s outfit for the final of The Celebrity Traitors

Thursday 6 November 2025 21:26 , Katie Rosseinsky

For those of you who, like me, are obsessed with Claudia’s Traitors wardrobe, then you’re in luck: my colleague Daisy Lester has compiled all of her brilliant looks from the series so far, along with some very covetable high street alternatives.

I’ve tracked down Claudia Winkleman’s exact outfits from The Celebrity Traitors

Mission accomplished!

Thursday 6 November 2025 21:29 , Katie Rosseinsky

I would 100 per cent watch the hell out of this heist movie. Make it happen, BBC!

It's time for the pre-roundtable chats

Thursday 6 November 2025 21:31 , Katie Rosseinsky

So Alan’s masterplan seems to rely on managing to pursue Joe that Nick is a Traitor? I’m not entirely convinced that he can pull it off. And this new alliance between Nick and David could prove powerful...

Thursday 6 November 2025 21:33 , Katie Rosseinsky

Oof. Joe is trying to keep Alan on side by bringing him bowls of Malteasers... all while secretly planning to pull the rug from under his feet at the round table! What a strategist.

Time for the obligatory 'Hanging Tree' moment

Thursday 6 November 2025 21:34 , Katie Rosseinsky

And if you had “eerie slowed down cover of the ‘Hanging Tree’ song from ‘Hunger Games’” on your Celebrity Traitors bingo card, congratulations!

Thursday 6 November 2025 21:37 , Katie Rosseinsky

My face when I realise this is the FINAL round table...

'Shieldgate' gets a mention

Thursday 6 November 2025 21:40 , Katie Rosseinsky

Inevitably, Alan’s shield slip-up has already got some airtime at the round table, with both Nick and Joe mentioning the moment when he appeared to totally forget all about the fact that he was marked safe from murder.

Once again, Alan’s managed to use comedy to deflect from the situation, with a pretty solid impression of Joe, and has made a pretty decent case for himself. God, he’s good at this!

It's curtains for Cat!

Thursday 6 November 2025 21:47 , Katie Rosseinsky

And it’s time for the votes!

Two votes for Cat, two for David, and then Joe gets the deciding vote... His choice? Cat!

It’s taken a long, long time, but the Faithfuls have finally cracked the code and booted out another Traitor.

Thursday 6 November 2025 21:48 , Katie Rosseinsky

Of course, Nick and Joe don’t know that Cat is in fact a Traitor.

“She just wasn’t even on my radar,” Alan quips. How is our last Traitor standing going to play this?

Alan Carr forced to defend 'Shieldgate' at finale roundtable

Thursday 6 November 2025 21:51 , Katie Rosseinsky

Did he pull it off? Here’s the moment when Alan had to defend his shield slip-up

Thursday 6 November 2025 21:54 , Katie Rosseinsky

Wait, I know that piano line anywhere. Are they playing... the Succession soundtrack??

Thursday 6 November 2025 21:56 , Katie Rosseinsky

It’s pouches time! There’s something quite ASMR about Claudia saying “pouches” over and over, isn’t there? Or am I just losing the plot?

It's time for another banishment

Thursday 6 November 2025 21:57 , Katie Rosseinsky

It’s unanimous. The fire has turned red four times, and all remaining players have decided to banish again! Is the game up for our favourite Chatty Man?

Thursday 6 November 2025 21:59 , Katie Rosseinsky

I just GASPED as David voted for Joe! The curveball we didn’t see coming!

Joe is banished

Thursday 6 November 2025 22:00 , Katie Rosseinsky

And another GASP as Nick stabs Joe in the back! I am, to quote Ms Kate Garraway, simply FLABBERGASTED.

Seriously, how are they SO bad at this?

Thursday 6 November 2025 22:00 , Katie Rosseinsky

Farewell Joe, our sweet Faithful king. They didn’t deserve you.

Pouches round two

Thursday 6 November 2025 22:02 , Katie Rosseinsky

I can’t watch. Are David and Nick really about to get mugged off by Alan?

Thursday 6 November 2025 22:03 , Katie Rosseinsky

Alan wants to end the game, of course. And so does David. And Nick! These poor fools!

The big reveal

Thursday 6 November 2025 22:05 , Katie Rosseinsky

I simply cannot wait to see Nick and David’s faces when they realise that Alan has played them entirely...

No words needed

A tearful Alan takes the prize pot

Thursday 6 November 2025 22:09 , Katie Rosseinsky

Bless Alan for bursting into tears after making his big reveal. Clearly all this barefaced lying and backstabbing has got to him.

Time for a celebratory champagne

Thursday 6 November 2025 22:13 , Katie Rosseinsky

Here he is! Our Celebrity Traitors winner! The people’s prince!

(BBC)
Thursday 6 November 2025 22:16 , Katie Rosseinsky

Now that the dust has (sort of) settled on David and Nick’s terrible decision to banish top Faithful Joe, I think I’m pretty satisfied with Alan’s victory.

From the very beginning, he’s been the most entertaining part of a show crammed with big characters. His off the cuff remarks, his asides to the camera, his uncanny ability to use his campy, OTT persona to shake off any suspicions... He’s been a Traitors player for the ages.

And it's over to BBC Two for Uncloaked

Thursday 6 November 2025 22:18 , Katie Rosseinsky

Yes, Halloween was last week, but we’re still awarding 10 out of 10 for Paloma’s Claudia cosplay for the Traitors: Uncloaked finale.

(BBC)
Thursday 6 November 2025 22:19 , Katie Rosseinsky

How would Claudia characterise her Traitors presenting style? “I’m strict and fluorescent orange.”

Moment Nick Mohammed turns on Joe Marler in final Traitors banishment

Thursday 6 November 2025 22:20 , Katie Rosseinsky

It’s the moment that Nick Mohammed has probably been replaying in his mind at 3am ever since Celebrity Traitors wrapped...

Thursday 6 November 2025 22:24 , Katie Rosseinsky

So when did Joe work out the Traitors’ identities? “The shield cock- ups from Jonathan and Alan were the giveaways. I like shields. You don’t seem to like them as much as me.”

No hard feelings

Thursday 6 November 2025 22:30 , Katie Rosseinsky

Is there any bad blood between former “hundies” Joe and Nick after that roundtable fiasco?

“When Joe and I text each other after we got out of the castle, he continually refers to me as Judas, and then occasionally replaces the ‘u’ with a heart, which is quite nice,” Nick admits.

Alan Carr breaks down in tears at final Celebrity Traitors round table

Thursday 6 November 2025 22:46 , Katie Rosseinsky

Here’s the moment when weeks of lying, murdering and general treachery caught up with our winner Alan Carr...

Thursday 6 November 2025 22:48 , Katie Rosseinsky

“Alan could have come down to breakfast in a green cloak and I still wouldn’t have thought he was a Traitor.” Kudos to David for his honesty.

Alan Carr reveals his agent had doubts about his Traitors performance

Thursday 6 November 2025 23:05 , Katie Rosseinsky

Even Alan Carr’s agent assumed that he wouldn’t last long in the competition.

“My agent, this is a little exclusive, had actually booked in things for the second week,” he admitted to Ed Gamble on Traitors: Uncloaked. “’Alan,’ he said, ‘with your poker face, you’ll be out two days in.’ And I actually believed him.”

Oh, and apparently Alan had to phone up his cat sitter a few days in, to inform them that he’d be needing their services for a bit longer...

The Celebrity Traitors finale review: clever people turning out to be dumb makes for addictive TV

Thursday 6 November 2025 23:30 , Katie Rosseinsky

The verdict is in from my esteemed colleague Hannah Ewens... and it’s four stars for the Celebrity Traitors finale!

“Hasn’t it been fun for true Traitors heads to see the parlour game at a different slant, played by people either inherently disconnected from reality or funnier than the average person?” Hannah asks.

“Hasn’t it been curious to see contestants unable to hide behind fake personas or less suspicious jobs, as is typical in the usual series?”

All in all, she writes, it has been :a ridiculous series full of hopeless people and we have loved every minute of it”.

I quite frankly could not have put it better myself. And on that note, good night Faithful.

Fancy yourself as a Traitor hunter?

Friday 7 November 2025 00:23 , Katie Rosseinsky

Reckon you could do a better job than this lot? Surely it wouldn’t take much. If you think you’d actually look quite stunning in one of those green velvety cloaks, applications for the fifth season of the civilian version of The Traitors are currently open: you can head over to the BBC website to throw your name into the ring.

Who could sign up for another season of Celebrity Traitors?

Friday 7 November 2025 01:39 , Katie Rosseinsky

Surely every vaguely famous person in Britain is about to put in a call to their agent and demand that they secure them a spot at the Traitors castle next year.

Even a member of the royal family has thrown his hat into the ring. Mike Tindall, the son-in-law of Princess Anne, has revealed that he’d “definitely enjoy” taking part in the show.

Former rugby player Tindall has previously appeared on I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! so this wouldn’t be his first reality rodeo either.

It was all going so well for Joe Marler

Friday 7 November 2025 02:24 , Katie Rosseinsky

Oh Joe. The Faithfuls didn’t deserve you.

At the start of the Celebrity Traitors finale, rugby player Joe had it all worked out. He’d realised that Alan Carr and Cat Burns were Traitors. And he was going to keep them on side to the very last minute, before wrong footing them at the roundtable.

But he was foiled at the last minute... by his fellow Faithfuls. Sigh.

Here’s a reminder of Joe’s Traitors journey... before it all went off piste.

Will there be a second season of Celebrity Traitors?

Friday 7 November 2025 06:11 , Katie Rosseinsky

It’s safe to say that we’ll all be missing our twice-weekly Celebrity Traitors now that the series is over. So the big question is, will the BBC bring back the spin-off for season two?

Right now, we don’t have a definite answer, as a second series is yet to be confirmed. But, quite frankly, given the show’s runaway success, the broadcaster would be silly not to greenlight a follow-up ASAP.

Before the finale aired, Celebrity Traitors was already the most-watched TV show of the year. It drew in an average of 12.6 million viewers across the first four episodes, according to seven-day consolidated figures. That’s seriously impressive.

For comparison, 7.4 million tuned in for the finale of season three of the civilian edition back in January. The show, it seems, is going from strength to strength – and the fourth season (sans celebs) is slated to return to our screens early next year.

Here's all of Claudia's brilliant outfits from Celebrity Traitors

Kilts! Tutus! Leather! An astonishing array of fingerless gloves! Safe to say that once again, Claudia and her stylist have absolutely knocked it out of the park, fashion wise.

Cat reveals moment she knew she'd lost

Friday 7 November 2025 08:30 , Jacob Stolworthy

Cat Burns was one of the favourites to win the show – but she had potential glory pinched away in the final boardroom when Joe Marler’s deciding vote sent her home.

The singer-songwriter said she initially assumed Joe was going to vote for historian David Olusoga, as he had promised he’d do so earlier that day. But after realising Joe couldn’t look her in the eyes, she realised her fate.

“That was when I was like, ‘Yeah, my time’s done; I’ve had a great run!’” she said on Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked.

Claudia Winkleman hails winner Alan Carr

Friday 7 November 2025 08:43 , Jacob Stolworthy

Claudia Winkleman was full of smiles for Alan Carr immediately after he duped his way to a Celebrity Traitors victory – and assured the tearful comedian he wasn’t “the most hated man in Britain”.

The host embraced Carr alongside fellow finalists Nick Mohammed and David Olusoga as he broke down and told them his traitorous lies had been “tearing” him apart.

On aftershow Uncloaked, Winkleman wore a “I heart Alan” t-shirt and, shortly after, posed with the champion on Instagram.

Alan Carr explains why he broke down in tears after winning

Friday 7 November 2025 09:18 , Jacob Stolworthy

Alan Carr has addressed his tearful reaction to his Celebrity Traitors win, admitting the “deceit, the lying and murdering in plain sight” had taken their toll.

Having seemingly blown his cover in the penultimate episode of the series, the comedian pulled off a shock win in Thursday night’s final, stealing the prize pot from Faithfuls Nick Mohammed and David Olusoga.

After they all voted to end the game, Carr broke down in tears as he revealed he was a Traitor and his fellow finalists rushed to console him – despite the fact he’d just stolen the entire £87,500 prize pot from them.

Jonathan Ross says he's pleased a Traitor won

Friday 7 November 2025 09:38 , Jacob Stolworthy

Jonathan Ross might have been backstabbed by his fellow Traitors midway through the series, but there’s no bad blood between them.

The TV presenter said he’s pleased Alan Carr won, telling Uncloaked host Ed Gamble: “That’s all I really wanted. But having watched last week’s episode, there was no way I thought either of you would survive.”

Alan Carr's agent was convinced he'd get booted off early

Friday 7 November 2025 09:52 , Jacob Stolworthy

Alan Carr’s agent was so sure the comedian wouldn’t make it far on The Celebrity Traitors that he booked him work midway through recording.

The 2025 winner said: “I did not think I’d get this far. My agent had actually booked in things for the second week because he said, ‘Alan, you’ll be out!’ I believed him.”

He said he had to ask his dogsitter to stay on longer than he’d asked her to after making it further into the competition than he expected.

Our Celebrity Traitors finale review

Alan Carr's fellow Traitor says he was more tactical than he let on

Friday 7 November 2025 10:18 , Jacob Stolworthy

“Looking back now, Alan played a far more tactical game than I thought he was at the time,” Jonathan Ross admitted in the aftermath of Carr’s Celebrity Traitors victory.

Ross was the first Traitor to be eliminated in the inaugural all-star version of the BBC game show – but many initially assumed that would be comedian Carr, who was overcome with nerves in the opening episodes.

But he warmed into the role and, according to Ross, “was far cleverer with it” than anyone expected him to be.

“A lot of the time, I'd go 'I think we should kill so-and-so’ and they’d [Alan and Cat Burns] talk me round into killing someone I really thought we shouldn’t kill!” he said on aftershow Uncloaked. “They had a proper grasp of the plan.”

Celebrity Traitors racks up biggest audience of year for BBC

Friday 7 November 2025 10:28 , Jacob Stolworthy

The Celebrity Traitors final amassed mammoth viewing figures, averaging an audience of 11.1 million with a peak of 12 million.

This was the BBC’s biggest overnight audience since the Gavin & Stacey Christmas special last year (watched by 11.6 million) and easily one of the most-watched TV events of the year.

It’s worth noting these are the overnight figures – and the total viewership is set to drastically increase when combined with belated streams on iPlayer.

Claudia Winkleman reveals her nerves in final endgame

Friday 7 November 2025 11:19 , Jacob Stolworthy

Host Claudia Winkleman described witnessing Alan Carr’s victory as “unbelievable” – and described being there as a “privilege”.

“My knees were knocking because I was incredibly nervous,” she said on aftershow Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked.

“It is an absolute privilege to always be in there at those roundtables, but the endgame was quite something - and when the third green pouch went in and I realised what was happening...”

Joe Marler explains shock moment he was banished

Friday 7 November 2025 11:40 , Jacob Stolworthy

Joe Marler was convinced he had loyal Faithfuls in Nick Mohammed and David Olusoga – but in the endgame, they voted to banish him, paving the way for Traitor Alan Carr to win.

Reflecting on the moment, the rugby player said he was both stunned and sad.

“It was a combination of gutted – I was like, ‘Oh no, this has backfired massively’ – and then I was desperate to get out and see Cat, ‘cause I knew she was a Traitor, and be like, ‘I’m sorry I voted for you.’”

He continued: “It was a surprise, but there’s no hard feelings at all because ultimately, it was a really, really big fun game.”

Contestants explain why they never voted for Alan Carr

Friday 7 November 2025 12:00 , Jacob Stolworthy

Alan Carr’s status as a Traitor was questioned numerous times throughout the show, and yet nobody wanted to vote for him at the roundtable.

“Alan is incredibly persuasive,” Nick Mohammed explained. “He was just so convincing throughout the whole game.”

Meanwhile, Joe Marler, who was convinced Alan was a Traitor, said he thinks he subliminally wanted the comedian to stay on the show as he was so much fun to be around.

Alan Carr says Celebrity Traitors has changed him

Friday 7 November 2025 13:00 , Jacob Stolworthy

The comedian said he is proud of himself for winning the show and for pushing himself out of his comfort zone around other personalities famed for their intelligence.

“I found out about myself I can be a chameleon, I can chat, I can lie – when the pressure's on, I can do it. When Stephen Fry talks or David Olusoga talks, I go quiet. I’m not worthy, I’m not intelligent. But maybe sometimes you do need to question and stand up for yourself and go, ‘Actually, I think this.’ Idiots can do well!”

When will the next season of The Traitors kick off?

Friday 7 November 2025 13:30 , Katie Rosseinsky

You might have spotted a little teaser clip for the next round of The Traitors tucked away towards the end of the show...

It didn’t exactly give us any major clues about what we can expect (hooded figures? Lurking around a castle? Groundbreaking) but we can safely assume that the new season will be airing on the BBC towards the start of 2026.

The show has been part of the BBC’s early January programming for the past couple of years, and, although exact dates are yet to be confirmed, it seems pretty likely that the broadcaster will opt for a similar slot once more.

Nick Mohammed apologises to Joe Marler

Friday 7 November 2025 14:00 , Jacob Stolworthy

After turning his back on fellow faithful Joe Marler in the endgame, Nick Mohammed issued an apology for inadvertently letting a Traitor win the game.

His Ted Lasso co-star Hannah Waddingham branded him a “muppet” for letting Alan Carr pull the wool over his eyes.

Which charity has Alan Carr chosen?

Friday 7 November 2025 14:30 , Jacob Stolworthy

In the celebrity version of The Traitors, the stars choose to donate the prize pot to charity (rather than taking it for themselves, as contestants do in the civilian edition).

Alan Carr will be giving his winnings to Neuroblastoma UK, a charity that supports research and treatment for a rare cancer that develops in the nerve cells.

It primarily impacts children under the age of five.

“I told one person at the charity and they started crying, so that gives you some idea of how important this money will be to them,” Carr said after the final aired.

“Neuroblastoma is such a cruel disease, and this money will literally save lives. It’s a charity and disease that no one has really heard of so with the viewing figures being what they are it’s going to be so good for the charity.”

How much Celebrity Traitors contestants earn for taking part

Friday 7 November 2025 15:00 , Jacob Stolworthy

While the famous faces who signed up to the show are trying to win money for their chosen charities, they have each reportedly received a fee for taking part.

The celebrities are said to have each been paid a flat fee of £40,000.

On The Rest Is Entertainment podcast in July, host Marina Hyde said: “It’s certainly interesting to compare something like Celebrity Traitors on the BBC to I’m a Celebrity on ITV.”

Addressing the line-up rumours circulating at the time - many of which turned out to be true - she added: “Look at the calibre of the people they got. They were able to pay everybody a blanket 40k fee, right? They’re paying them a 40k fee.”

The BBC declined to comment when approached by The Independent.

That's a wrap on our 'Celebrity Traitors' coverage

Friday 7 November 2025 15:10 , Jacob Stolworthy

But only for a few months. The next civilian series of The Traitors is expected to air on the BBC as soon as January! So until then...

Four stars for the finale from our critic

Friday 7 November 2025 16:00 , Jacob Stolworthy

“It could have only ended this way,” writes Hannah Ewens.

“Traitor Alan Carr, a very obvious Traitor, who on multiple occasions almost admitted to the others he is a Traitor, is blubbing in a white suit with gold sequins.

“He has won the first ever series of Celebrity Traitors, an exercise in celebrities and TV intellectuals showing that money, books and jobs in the media (!) do not make an intuitive or remotely switched on being.

“The remaining two Faithful in that deciding round of banishing – David Olusoga and Nick Mohammed – are coo-cooing at Carr to calm him, soundtracked by the heartbreaking tones of Ludovico Einaudi.

“Just moments ago, they voted out the most obvious Faithful in the game, Joe Marler. It’s a ridiculous scene to end a ridiculous series full of hopeless people and we have loved every minute of it.”
