A new Channel 4 show is set to send famous celebrities to jail in order to see what life is like inside prison.
According to reports, a pilot for the TV experiment, HMP, has already been made.
Production company Shine is said to be making the show, with bosses now casting famous faces to take part, with plans for filming to take place later this year.
It has been reported that a full series of HMP will be made.
A TV insider claimed: "The idea behind the show is it gives people who might have zero experience of prison life, or the criminal justice system in general, a taste of just what it is like.
Speaking to The Sun, the source added: "That could include celebs from a walk of life where they’ve looked at incarceration from a different angle, whether they are ex-police officers, politicians, or actors who have played crooks but never actually been banged up.
“They’re expecting it to be a tough watch and a tough endurance test for those taking part, but the fact it is so challenging is part of its appeal.”
The show is reportedly set to be aired in autumn this year.
Creators are hoping to make the experience an authentic one and have sourced a former prison for the experiment to take place in.
However, to reflect prisons in real life, the jail will be single sex.
That means the first series is set to feature male participants only, with a view to have the second series feature female stars, if the initial format proves a success.
