Mars Wrigley has officially brought back the "Lonely Bounty" character in a new festive TV spot just days after the chocolate bar was axed from its Celebrations tubs.
The emotional Christmas advert acts as a sequel to the global companies story last year which followed the chocolate bar as it found love with another fellow festive outsider - Brussel Sprouts.
Now, the unlucky chocolate bar character is back in another story that opens with Mr Bounty being the target of internet trolls before he makes the decision to take down his stocking from the Celebrations mantlepiece, leaving the tub forever.
However, hope is not lost for the rejected chocolate bar, as the advert tackles themes of unexpected friendships after Mr Bounty is found and cared for by an elderly woman, as the pair can be seen knitting, playing scrabble and decorating the house.
In true Christmas advert spirit, the chocolate bar officially makes his return to his fellow Celebrations friends with newfound happiness and hopes, after public pleas for him to come home.
Mars Wrigley says that their spot takes direct aim at the infamous John Lewis Christmas adverts - from its themes to the emotional soundtrack and heartfelt montage - as well as featuring a few choice Easter eggs nodding to previous campaigns such as last year’s “Unexpected Guest."
Set to a poignant track titled "Christmas isn't Christmas", the festive advert aims to urge fans to show their support for the chocolate bar with a brand new #bringbackbounty campaign.
The song, which was written especially for the new campaign, poses the idea that 'Christmas isn't Christmas without Bounty', as Mars Wrigley urges fans to bring back the chocolate bar before it's too late.
It comes just days after Mars Wrigley controversially made the decision to remove Bounty from its Christmas Celebrations tubs, despite research finding that it was not the least liked chocolate.
The confectionary brand has teamed up with supermarket giant Tesco to trial the new Bounty-less tubs after new research found that the coconut-filled bar causes a divide among families, with 39% wanting to see it banned altogether.
Despite being one of the most hotly debated chocolates in the box, a further study recently found that a whopping 58% would miss finding a Bounty in their Celebrations tub this year.
Emily Owen, Mars Wrigley’s Head of Celebrations Festive Cheer said: "Bounty has always been a divisive presence in the Celebrations tub, but no matter which side of the debate you stand, our film teaches an important lesson; you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone.
We’re urging fans who want to keep Bounty in the tub to show their support with #BringBackBounty before we make our final decision on whether Bounty-less tubs are the future of Celebrations."
