A famous hairdresser in London has joined businesses banning Labour MPs in protest to November’s Budget.
Michael Van Clarke, who owns a salon in Marylebone, is known for cutting and styling celebrities’ hair.
His high-profile clients over the years include Princess Diana, actor Jennifer Aniston and even “senior” MPs on both sides of the political spectrum. He opened his west London business in 1988.
He has joined hundreds of business including pubs and barbers who are boycotting Labour MPs over chancellor Rachel Reeves’ new Budget which increased business rates after the chancellor said the 40 per cent rates discount introduced during Covid will stop from April 2026.
The top hair stylist said most Labour politicians are “naïve and ideologically stupid”.
Mr Van Clarke told The Sun: “We have a history of looking after senior party members on both sides but I fully support this latest initiative.
“I feel the lives of Labour MPs should be hindered and diminished like they are doing to ours.
“I don’t think they are all evil. Most are just naive and ideologically stupid.
“If the entire country refuses to do business with them perhaps they will get the message.”

Public houses have begun displaying “No Labour MPs” stickers on their doors and windows in protest at higher business rates, with owners accusing the Government of hammering the hospitality sector and killing the high street.
Some pubs said they will see their business rates bill rise by thousands of pounds.
A Treasury spokesperson said: “We are a pro-business government that has capped Corporation Tax at 25% - the lowest rate in the G7 - capped business rates increases with a £4.3bn support package, and have seen interest rates cut six times since the election, benefiting businesses in every part of Britain.
“The fair and necessary decisions we made at this Budget and the last mean we can deliver on the country’s priorities – cutting waiting lists, cutting debt and borrowing and cutting the cost of living.”
