The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has put fatal and nonfatal overdose data on a single public page for the first time, launching the Overdose Prevention Data Channel on August 31 and timing it to International Overdose Awareness Day.
The launch arrived alongside the agency's latest provisional estimate of 67,798 drug overdose deaths in the United States for the 12 months ending in March 2026, a 12.3 percent decrease from the same period a year earlier.
