CCTV released as police hunt Brixton gunman one year on from shooting

CCTV has been released by Metropolitan Police as detectives search for a gunman almost a year after a man was shot in the leg in south London.

Police were called to Deepdene Gardens, Brixton, after reports of a shooting around 6.40pm on October 10 last year.

Officers found the victim with a gunshot injury to his leg. His condition was assessed in hospital as not life-threatening.

No arrests have been made despite extensive police inquiries.

On Thursday the Met issued images of a man they want to contact.

Detective Sergeant Matt Doohan said: "Though we have arrested and charged a person in connection with this incident, we are still very interested in speaking to the male pictured.

"This is relatively new footage that we have obtained that shows the suspect entering a shop near Gaitskell Court SW11, around four miles away, in the hours before the incident.

"The footage is good quality and I believe it's possible that someone will recognise him. From our enquiries so far we think he is probably from outside the local area, potentially from another London borough or perhaps further afield.

"If you can name him, I urge you to contact us immediately."
