Officers investigating a burglary at a Newcastle garage have issued CCTV images of two men they want to find.
Shortly before 5am on Saturday, March 5, it was reported that two men entered Crofter’s Lodge Service Station on Kenton Road, Newcastle. While staff were in another room, it is understood that both burglars went behind the counter and entered a private area for staff only and stole various items including cigarettes and tobacco.
Both men then left the store via the main doors on foot. The theft was later reported to police, who subsequently launched an investigation.
While the investigation is ongoing, officers suspect that this could be linked to another burglary that took place at a home on Heathfield Crescent in Kenton later that month, between 6.15pm and 6.30pm on Friday, March 24. It was reported that a man forced entry into a house on the street and took a bag containing a purse, debit cards and cash before leaving the area on foot.
As part of the investigation, police have issued an appeal to the public, asking for their assistance. They have also issued the image of two men who were believed to have been in the area near Crofter’s Lodge Service Station on Kenton Road at the time of the burglary and could have information which can assist.
The men, or anyone who knows them, are asked to contact police by either calling 101 or using the ‘Tell Us Something’ page on their website quoting crime reference 026346Q/22.
