CCTV image released by police after attempted burglary at Sunderland home

Police have launched an appeal for information after an attempted burglary at a home. Officers have released a picture of a man they would like to speak to as they investigate the alleged incident in Sunderland.

Between 9.30am and 10am on Saturday, April 22, it was reported that a man attempted to gain access to a property on Silksworth Road by trying the front door handle. When he was unsuccessful, the man tried to remove a Ring doorbell from the front door. The suspect then fled the area on foot empty-handed, and the incident was later reported to police.

A spokesperson from Northumbria Police said: "An investigation was launched and a number of enquiries have been ongoing since the report was made. As part of their enquiries, police have today issued an image of a man they would like to speak to.

"It is believed that he was in the area at the time of the incident and could have information which assists the investigation. The man, or anyone who knows him, is asked to contact police using the ‘Tell Us Something’ page on our website, quoting crime reference number: 50980B/23."
