CCTV footage released after man left with fractured skull and broken collar bone in Newcastle city centre assault

Officers investigating an assault in Newcastle city centre have released CCTV footage after a man was left with a fractured skull and broken collar bone.

Northumbria Police was called at around 3.05am on Sunday, June 12, following a report a man had been assaulted in Newcastle city centre. It was reported the man had been sitting with his girlfriend on the steps in front of the Job Centre on Mosely Street, near Flares.

Three males then reportedly approached the couple and a verbal altercation took place. The victim, aged 24, was then assaulted by one of the males who punched him, causing him to fall to the ground.

All three then left the scene and emergency services were contacted. An investigation into the incident remains ongoing and officers have since reviewed CCTV and spoken to witnesses.

And on Wednesday, police issued a CCTV clip of a group of males who were in the area at the time and could have information which can assist. The men or anyone who knows them are asked to contact police using the Tell us Something page in our website quoting crime ref 068290E/22.
