CBS Sports sees more improvement in the New York Jets roster than most others.
A welcomed surprised.
The outlet released their latest roster rankings as others have this offseason. Different sites have seen the Jets improve, such as Pro Football Focus. PFF slotted New York into the No. 24 overall spot.
But CBS Sports brings more heat. The Jets have the 20th-best roster in the NFL, according to their poll.
In the breakdown, the outlet likes one thing about Gang Green and makes it very clear what that is: Help for quarterback Zach Wilson.
Here’s the breakdown:
If you want an example of a team doing everything in its power to support a young QB, look no further than the Jets, who addressed basically every top need this offseason. Zach Wilson now has better protection (Laken Tomlinson), more viable targets (Garrett Wilson, C.J. Uzomah) and a much-improved defense, including new starters Sauce Gardner, D.J. Reed, Jermaine Johnson and Jordan Whitehead. The pieces have to gel, and Wilson has to make better decisions, but this team will quickly rise up the rankings if the execution is there this fall.
As far as this roster ranking is concerned, there could be some good things en route for the Jets.
Or at least compared to the New England Patriots.
The long-time AFC East winners are actually the lowest-ranked divisional team in CBS Sports’ ratings. The Buffalo Bills do take the top placement while the Miami Dolphins are at No. 14, but the Pats are at No. 24.
Tough break, Patriots.
