CB Jack Jones posts series of tweets denying Patriots report

It wasn’t a quiet exit for former New England Patriots cornerback Jack Jones, who posted a series of tweets on Tuesday night, vehemently denying a report that he was late to a team hotel.

The report came out after Jones was benched at the start of the Patriots’ game against the Washington Commanders. Per Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, Jones’ tardiness at the hotel was one of the reasons why he was benched in the game.

There was also a belief that Jones’ struggles on the field, particularly after the meltdown against the Miami Dolphins, played a part in him being benched for the game.

After Jones was waived by the Patriots on Monday, the Boston Sports Journal’s Mike Giardi reported the 25-year-old cornerback was late for a team meeting and didn’t show the right “behavior/engagement” the team was looking for during the Week 10 trip to Germany.

Regardless of how it ended, Jones’ time in New England is apparently done for good. He was picked up on waivers by the Las Vegas Raiders on Tuesday, which paves the way for a fresh start for the second-year player.

Opportunities don’t come around often at the NFL level. Jones has a lot of talent, and there’s hope that he’ll make the best of this next one.
