Cauvery water: Will not allow any project that adversely affects water sharing, says BJP TN spokesperson Narayanan Thirupathy

Chennai: The BJP has assured the people of all Cauvery basin states that the Centre will continue to act strictly in accordance with the law, CWMA, and will not allow any project that adversely affects water sharing.

Stating that the BJP firmly stands by the consistent and responsible position taken by the Union government and the Ministry of Jal Shakti on the Mekedatu project, TN BJP spokesperson Narayanan Thirupathy, said, "In August 2021, then Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat had clearly informed the Lok Sabha that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the Mekedatu project cannot be considered for further assessment without the acceptance and clearance of the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA)."
