Queensland's Department of Environment and Science (DES) is continuing to investigate the cause of a large fish kill in the Mulgrave River, downstream from Gordonvale in far north Queensland.
While some locals believe the fish kill numbers to be in the tens of thousands, a DES spokesperson says its officers estimate hundreds of native and introduced fish species were killed earlier this month, including barramundi, catfish, eels, shrimp and tilapia.
