AFL premiers Geelong have secured key trade target Tanner Bruhn from GWS but are still chasing deals for Collingwood's Ollie Henry and Gold Coast's Jack Bowes.
The Cats parted ways with pick 18 to land Bruhn from the Giants and are hopeful of prizing fellow Geelong Falcons product Henry away from the Magpies.
On Friday, Geelong secured pick 25 from the Brisbane Lions in exchange for a suite of picks over the next two years.
It is hoped that move could help them unlock a deal that satisfies Collingwood, who aren't willing to give up uncontracted forward Henry easily, given he was taken at pick 17 in 2020.
Gold Coast midfielder Bowes has nominated Geelong as his club of choice and the Cats are willing to take on board his hefty salary in order to claim pick seven from the Suns as part of the deal.
Bruhn, 20, was selected by GWS with pick 12 in 2020 and played 30 games for the Giants over two seasons, including 17 this year.
"Tanner is a very talented player, who will add to our midfield stocks while also having the versatility to play other positions," Cats list manager Andrew Mackie said.
"Tanner had a number of options available to him and we've been impressed with the way he has handled himself throughout this period.
"We're looking forward to seeing him wearing the hoops in 2023."
GWS are now armed with five top-20 draft picks - currently No.3, 12, 15, 18 and 19 - having also traded out Tim Taranto (Richmond) and Bobby Hill (Collingwood).
They are likely to acquire more picks from the Tigers in a deal to send midfielder Jacob Hopper to Punt Road.
"We're excited to bring in another first-round draft pick to add to what will be an incredibly strong draft hand across both this season and next," GWS football boss Jason McCartney said.
"It's disappointing, particularly given the disruptions of the past two seasons, to lose Tanner back to Victoria only two years after drafting him.
"But ultimately we're pleased to add another top pick and we wish Tanner well in the future."
Geelong gave up picks 38, 48 and 55, as well as future second-round and future fourth-round picks, in exchange for Brisbane's pick 25.
Those selections could help the Lions land father-son prospects Will Ashcroft and Jaspa Fletcher at the draft.
Meanwhile, it is expected Adelaide and Gold Coast will strike a deal that will see Izak Rankine head to the Crows in exchange for pick five.
The deal is also tipped to include a swap of later selections.
