Disgraced Chilean politician Cathy Barriga is among the newest stars of the adult content platform "Onfayer," for which she is creating adult content while serving house arrest as part of an investigation into her management during her tenure as mayor of the Maipú municipality.

Barriga announced the news through her social media platforms.along with Onlyfayer. "We are thrilled to announce that the multifaceted @cathy_barriga is joining our platform. With her charisma and her notable career as a former Mekano star, ex-mayor, participant on 'La Granja VIP,' and her unforgettable portrayal of beloved character Robotina, Cathy will bring a new level of creativity and authenticity to all our users," the platform wrote on its Instagram profile.

The announcement also revealed that a subscription to access her exclusive content will cost $25.

Barriga is currently under house arrest while a court investigates her for allegedly embezzling public funds and forging public documents during her time as mayor of Maipú. The amount she is accused of mishandling exceeds $34 million.

However, Barriga's journey into the world of adult content may be short-lived, as she has a hearing scheduled for October 29, where her fate will be decided. If found guilty, she could face imprisonment and lose her current privileges, including her involvement with "Onfayer."

Barriga is not the pioneer

This isn't the first time a Chilean politician creates explicit or erotic content while under house arrest.

In August 2023, Camila Polizzi, was placed under house arrest amid an investigation into her management of the "Fundación En Ti." Polizzi faced tax evasion, document forgery, fraud, and money laundering charges.

During that time, Polizzi began creating adult content through "Onfayer." Despite being under investigation, she continues earning a significant income through her new platform, now known as "Arsmate."

While Polizzi maintains a relatively family-friendly image on Instagram, with posts reflecting her time at the foundation, her "Arsmate" page features over 120 images and more than 30 videos, accessible for $24 a month.

Why Is Explicit Content Allowed While Serving House Arrest in Chile?

Chilean laws surrounding house arrest were established long before the internet existed. These regulations restrict individuals from leaving their residences but do not limit what they can do in their homes.

As lawyer Christian Becker explained in an interview with Chilean media outlet "24 Horas," the current regulations do not prohibit working online while under house arrest.

"This means that the person under this measure cannot leave the residence designated by the court. Can they work online? The answer is yes because house arrest as a sanction was designed before the concept of working remotely over the internet existed," Becker stated.

However, this situation may change soon. A proposed bill in the Chilean Congress aims to prevent individuals under house arrest from profiting from social media, gambling, or adult content platforms. If passed, it could significantly limit opportunities for people like Barriga and Polizzi to earn money while serving their sentences from home.
