Phineas the cat on Tiktok made a lot of people laugh this week after a video posted to his page had him displaying a “scouse” meow.
Twitter user @thxgworkout posted the seven second tiktok taken from his page saying: “No but why does the cat have a scouse accent? Someone anyone tell me you hear it too?”
The video now has over 1.4 million views on Twitter, with comments agreeing that Phineas has a scouse twang.
The official Specsavers account replied saying: “It’s all we can hear now.”
User @_XeniaKara_ said: “I speak cat and I can confirm 100% this is the right translation.”
@Platedeals said: “He's from Meowsyside, that's why.”
Justin Foley simply said: “The scouser mouser.”
The cat in question, Phineas, is a six-year-old cat based in Sydney, Australia. He was adopted by his owner, Colin Anderson, 35 and his wife Daira Anderson, 30, after following his journey on instagram.
Colin said: “We were following him since he was a kitten and then when he didn’t learn to walk normally, he was diagnosed with cerebellar hypoplasia.”
“My wife and I are neuroscientists with PhDs studying movement disorders, and I specifically work on cerebellar disorders, so it seemed fitting to adopt him.”
VCA Animal Hospitals describes cerebellar hypoplasia as “a developmental condition in which the cerebellum of the brain fails to develop properly.”
Colin went on to say: “Phineas lacks normal coordination, but it probably affects his behaviour as well.”
“Despite his disability, he’s an extremely happy, confident cat, and you can really see that over-the-top confidence with his meow videos!”
Colin uses Phineas’ page to promote understanding and adopting of special needs pets.
