Cat missing for 9 YEARS found 11 miles away and reunited with owner

A missing cat who disappeared nine years ago has finally reunited with her owners after being found on the other side of Greater Manchester.

Loua Tirmidh and her partner spotted the feline outside their house on in Stretford on Sunday afternoon (November 6) while they were parking their car. The pair noticed the pet was 'a bit smelly' and bedraggled, and called the RSPCA, who told them to take her to the vet.

After leaving her with the vet, the couple thought they'd never hear more about their furry visitor. But the next day, they were 'shocked' to receive a call from saying the feline had been picked up by her owners - who lost her in 2013.

"My partner was parking the car, and at first we thought we'd hit the cat, so we got out to make sure she was okay," Loua said. "We didn't hit her, she was just sat there, so we got out the car and tried to coax her inside because it was raining and bless her, she was a bit smelly and a bit worse for wear."

The couple called the RSPCA, and then dropped the cat off at an emergency vets thinking they would never know what came next for the feline friend.

"So we left here there and just thought, oh well, if she isn't anyone's cat then she'll get adopted and live the rest of her life in a nice home," Loua said.

But on Monday morning, Lua's partner was called by the vets to reveal Tilly the cat was chipped so they could track down the owners. The pair were 'shocked' to find out that Tilly had gone missing from Oldham nine years ago.

"The vet called us up and said, remember that cat you brought in yesterday? She's been missing for nine years!", Loua told the M.E.N. "We just thought, oh my god, that's crazy."

Tilly has since been reunited with her family, which Loua said was 'fantastic.

"It was such a nice way to end the day," she said. "It's a nice happy story, I thought people might benefit from knowing that this happened!"

Are you Tilly's owner, or do you have any more information about her? We'd love to hear more about her story! Please email nicole.woottoncane@reachplc.com or message @nicole_wc on Twitter.
