A special event will look at migrating geese on Tuesday.
Goose Journeys and Climate Change will take place at Threave Nature Reserve on the outskirts of Castle Douglas.
It promises to be a family friendly affair with lots of fun activities to bring the journey of geese to life.
National Trust for Scotland’s Threave Rangers, the Galloway Glens Scheme and Galloway and Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere have joined forces for the day which is part of the Wild Goose Festival.
Goose expert Dr Larry Griffin, who is taking part, said: “I’m really looking forward to the event at Threave as it gives me a chance not only to meet up with friends in the NTS team working so hard to conserve and educate about the wildfowl of the region but also the white-fronted geese I’ve known for decades and the characters I’ve recently got to know in the greylag goose flocks; relating their stories of survival and exploration to the more human audience within that amphitheatre of wildlife will be the aim of the day.”
There will be two sessions on Tuesday – from 10am to 12.30pm and from 1pm to 3.30pm. Fun includes goose news, a treasure hunt and creative activities as well as a walk through the nature reserve. Wellies or walking shoes are needed.
Free spaces can be booked at https://wildgoosefestival.scot/event/imaginative-goose-journeys-and-climate-change/.
Galloway Glens education and community engagement officer Jan Hogarth said: “This is an unmissable opportunity to imagine the world from a goose’s viewpoint.
“Join us for a playful day of goose activities including treasure hunts with our Threave rangers to goose news reporting, illustration and creative writing workshops.
