Castle Douglas man dies in A75 accident near Lochfoot roundabout

Police are continuing to appeal for information after a crash on the A75 on Friday night claimed the life of a Castle Douglas man.

Lewis Kearns-Kinnear died following the accident which happened about a mile west of the Lochfoot roundabout.

Mr Kearns-Kinnear, 30, who was driving a silver Renault Megane, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved and no one else was injured in the crash, which was reported around 11pm.

The A75 was closed overnight to allow for an investigation at the scene.

Police Scotland said their thoughts were with the victim’s family and friends “at this difficult time.”

Sergeant Kenny Malaney said: “We are working to establish the full circumstances of this incident.

“We would urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or saw the vehicle prior to it leaving the road to get in touch.

“We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dash cam footage.”
