Castle Douglas High School hold first awards ceremony since 2019

The last time Castle Douglas High School was able to have an awards ceremony with a packed assembly hall, filled with pupils and their families, was in June of 2019.

This was before any of the S1-S3 pupils receiving awards had started at the high school.

Thankfully session 2022-23 has been the most normal session since the start of the global pandemic and the majority of school activities that add to the whole experience of coming to school have been able to start again and bring a great deal more life to the school.

Every awards ceremony is special and on May 31 the school celebrated and publicly acknowledged the successes and accomplishments of the young people in years S1 to S3.

All of the awards were a surprise to the pupils and to their families and the reaction of the young people as their names were called out was filled with that of surprise and delight.

Mr Courten (technical subjects) and Mr Henderson (geography) will retire at the end of this session, and they kindly agreed to present the awards. Senior pupils who acted as the masters of ceremony took the opportunity to thank Mr Courten and Mr Henderson for their years of service to Castle Douglas High School.
