Castform Fans Want Sandstorm Form, Evolution More Than Another Eeveelution in 'Pokémon Winds & Waves'

We're several months away from seeing the next "Pokemon Winds and Waves" trailer, and yet, fans are revisiting one of the franchise's most overlooked Pokémon: Castform.

A recent Reddit discussion has reignited calls for Game Freak to give the weather-themed Pokémon a long-awaited upgrade, with many players requesting a Sandstorm form, improved base stats, and even a brand-new evolution.

Although Castform was introduced as the Weather Pokémon in "Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire," many fans feel it has never reached its full potential.

Fans Want Castform to Reach Its Full Potential

The discussion began after a fan asked whether Castform could finally receive a Sandstorm form in "Pokémon Winds and Waves." The post quickly gained traction, with many agreeing that the Pokémon deserves more attention after years of being largely overlooked.

Castform's signature Ability, Forecast, allows it to change forms during harsh sunlight, rain, and hail. However, despite interacting with all major weather conditions through its signature move, Weather Ball, Castform has never received a form for sandstorms.

Many players believe this missing transformation has been one of the franchise's biggest missed opportunities.

Why Doesn't Castform Have a Sandstorm Form?

Fans offered several theories to explain the missing form.

One popular explanation is that Castform was originally designed to represent a water molecule, making sunshine, rain, and snow natural transformations while sandstorms fall outside that concept.

Others pointed out that Castform can learn Sandstorm through Technical Machines, and Weather Ball already changes into a Rock-type attack during a sandstorm. Because of this, many players argue that a matching Rock-type Castform form would make perfect sense.

Some fans also speculated that technical limitations in the Game Boy Advance era may have prevented Game Freak from expanding Castform's transformations further.

Players Also Want a Castform Evolution

Beyond a new weather form, many fans believe Castform deserves its first-ever evolution.

One popular concept imagines an evolved Pokémon whose appearance changes depending on the weather when it evolves, creating different forms for sunshine, rain, snow, or sandstorms.

Others suggested the evolution could automatically summon its corresponding weather condition upon entering battle, making it a stronger option for weather-based teams.

More creative ideas included terrain-based transformations, atmospheric forms inspired by fog or thunderstorms, and even an entirely new Pokémon nicknamed "Terraform" that adapts to battle terrains instead of weather.

Better Stats Could Make Castform Competitive

Another common request is a significant boost to Castform's base stats.

Many players believe that improving its overall stats, along with enhancing the Forecast Ability, would allow Castform to become a legitimate choice for competitive weather teams instead of remaining a niche Pokémon.

Some fans even embraced the lighter side of the discussion, joking about alternate forms such as a "money form" capable of using Make It Rain, highlighting the community's creativity and affection for the weather Pokémon.

Could 'WiWa' Finally Revive Castform?

Game Freak has not confirmed any plans for Castform in "WiWa," and the recent discussion remains entirely fan speculation. Still, it remains to be seen if The Pokemon Company will introduce a new Castform form in the new, tropical region.
