A Cambuslang-based good cause has been awarded a share of a £25,000 funding pot, thanks to Scotmid’s Community Connect awards scheme.
REACH Lanarkshire Autism SCIO has received £5,000 after being shortlisted by the community retailer to receive the lifeline financial support, helping them to continue carrying out vital work within their community.
Charity REACH Lanarkshire Autism provides support and assistance to families and individuals living with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
The team behind REACH provide emotional, educational and therapeutic support as well as fun activities to those who need it across Lanarkshire.
Lee-Anne Herilihy Christie, REACH chairwoman, said: “Everyone at REACH is delighted to have received such a generous donation from Scotmid..
"We see first-hand the positive impact of our specialist care and organised events on individuals who are affected by ASD or ASC.
"We’re grateful for this grant as it will help us continue our hard work within the Lanarkshire community.”
Since Scotmid’s Community Connect launched in 2017, more than £600,000 has been awarded to 66 good cause groups across the north of England and Scotland, enabling key projects to continue operating in their local areas.
Michael Ross, chairman of Scotmid’s West Regional Committee, said: "We’re proud to support local charities and good cause groups through this scheme and provide dedicated funding to support their goals."
