Casemiro sent three-word message by ex-Real Madrid teammate Marcelo after Manchester United win

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro was sent a comical message by former Real Madrid teammate Marcelo after starring in the Reds' FA Cup victory over Reading.

Casemiro scored twice on Saturday night as Erik ten Hag's side secured a 3-1 victory over the Championship outfit, with his fellow countryman Fred scoring the other goal for the home side. The 30-year-old has now scored four goals and registered five assists since arriving at Old Trafford in the summer.

Both of the midfielder's goals were well-taken, but his first strike of the night - a long range effort from distance - was his best in a red shirt so far. Casemiro curled his shot past Reading goalkeeper Joe Lumley, before chipping the shot-stopper for his second goal in the win.

The Brazilian's performance against Paul Ince's men led to deserved praise from both his manager and teammates, and Marcelo was also keen to offer his opinion on the 30-year-old's showing at Old Trafford.

Casemiro uploaded of an image of himself celebrating his goal, with Marcelo commenting: "Dig it dog", alongside a laughing emoji and star emoji.

Marcelo and Casemiro have played together on 205 occasions for both Real Madrid and Brazil - combining for the one goal during their respective careers.

After the victory over Reading, United boss Ten Hag lauded the defensive midfielder, admitting that the 30-year-old was capable of delivering offensively for the Reds.

"We know he's a great player and that midfield at Real Madrid, with Kroos and Modric, it was great," Ten Hag said. "He's capable of that [scoring goals]. We see him as a part of it offensively and he enjoys it as well, when he can come [into] it.

"What I like is dynamic football with variations, with many positional switches so we have to make the opponent think so that we can take the benefit of it. Casemiro is magnificent. In front of the back line, always taking good positions, in and out of position.

"And he can deal with the ball, he can give the right pass. So, he can accelerate the game and if necessary, he can score."
