Casemiro insists Real Madrid not buying Thomas Tuchel’s claim that Chelsea tie is over

Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro says his side are taking nothing for granted ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Chelsea, despite Thomas Tuchel claiming last week that their Champions League tie is over.

Madrid triumphed 3-1 in last week’s quarter-final first leg at Stamford Bridge, prompting Tuchel to effectively concede that the Blues would be surrendering their European crown.

The German was, however, in a more upbeat mood when speaking to the media ahead of the second leg in Madrid on Monday morning, insisting “everything is possible”.

And in his own pre-match press conference, Brazilian Casemiro insisted the Spanish outfit know they still have plenty of work to do to reach the semi-finals.

“We won’t fall for that,” Casemiro said of Tuchel’s comments after the first leg. “We played probably what was the best 90 minutes of our season in London last week and took a major step closer to qualifying for the semi-final but we can’t get overly confident.

“We all heard what Thomas Tuchel said. We don’t buy it. We know that it will be a tough game. They are defending champions and we won’t take this game lightly, I can assure you of that.

“We’ll need our fans to be there and support us from the beginning. We can’t get overconfident and need our fans to create a great atmosphere so we can advance to the semi-finals.”
