Manchester United were handed a big morale boost this week when Christian Eriksen returned to team training.
The Dane took to the Carrington pitches again prior to Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Brentford before being photographed taking part in team drills once more on Thursday. Eriksen has not played since sustaining an ankle ligament injury in January’s FA Cup clash with Reading.
His absence prompted Erik ten Hag to facilitate a loan move for Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich for the rest of the season. Eriksen’s return to training was welcomed by swathes of United fans who underlined how greatly the team had missed him in midfield.

Teammates were also delighted to see him back with club captain Harry Maguire spotted bearing a broad smile with an arm around the playmaker. Casemiro and David de Gea have also shared their happiness at seeing Eriksen back in team training.
Eriksen shared a photograph of him on the turf at Carrington alongside Casemiro on Instagram, with United fans desperate to see their pair reignite their midfield partnership once again. The Brazilian reacted to the post with a starry-eyed emoji while De Gea commented: “Let’s go”.
The next time Eriksen can renew his on-field partnership with Casemiro will be on Thursday when United take on Sevilla in the Europa League quarter-finals. The latter serves the final of his four-match domestic ban against Everton this Saturday.
Eriksen - who has two goals and nine assists this season - is fit enough for this weekend’s clash.
