Case against unknown people for running fake pharma website

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police has registered a case against unknown people for running a fake website of the Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI).

The complainant informed police that he had received a signed agreement for the distributorship of Jan Aushadhi Kendra. He had paid more than Rs 1.5 lakh for it. The fake website looked similar to the original and he was duped by the fraudsters.

Police said that during the inquiry, the cops found that a fake website of PMBI was being operated and through which a fake letter of approval for the distributorship of Jan Aushadhi Kendra was being issued. Later, police received another complaint in which the complainant informed about the fake website being run by fraudsters.

A case under sections 419 (punishment for cheating by presentation), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) of Indian Penal Code was registered.
