Carter-Vickers set for quickfire Celtic return from injury

Brendan Rodgers has revealed Cameron Carter-Vickers could return to the Celtic starting line-up in midweek.

The centre-back was forced off injured in the victory over Hibs on Wednesday night.

And the blow sparked fears of a possible lengthy lay-off for the crucial defender.

However, a scan on the hamstring knock has come back "pretty clear" with a quickfire return now likely.

Rodgers confirmed Carter-Vickers missed out on the matchday squad to face Kilmarnock after "stiffness" around the knock. Nat Phillips starts in his place at Rugby Park this afternoon.

But, Carter-Vickers could come back into the squad for the match against Feyenoord on Wednesday.

Asked for an update on Carter-Vickers and the results of a scan on the injury, Rodgers told Sky Sports: "To be fair, it was pretty clear.

"But he has just felt a bit of stiffness around it so we don't want to force it.

"He has obviously played a lot of games since he has come back from injury.

"Nat can come in and do a great job for us and then hopefully Cam will be available in the midweek."
